The Royal Scam by: Steely Dan
First Press ABC Records 1976

Steely Dan is one of those groups where you totally get it and love them or you’re like, "it’s good, I guess". We are in between those two points. We radically respect the musicianship and production value of their music but it’s not always the vibe we’re going for in our house. Sometimes it is though, hence the middle position. This record is really good and the cover is crazy! And if you’re ever selling a record player, play a Steely Dan record for the respective buyer. It will show off your system.

I did just learn that the line, "They stab it with their steely knives…" from the Eagles’ Hotel California is a reference to Steely Dan in, what is described as, a friendly rivalry. You see, there is a song on this record called, Everything You Did that has the line, "Turn up the Eagles, the neighbors are listening." which has this backstory of Glenn Frey of the Eagles claiming that Walter Becker’s gf loves the Eagles, etc. Anyways, I’m butchering that, google it.

Vinyl and cover in great shape and record plays really well.
